possessed by terror.
As long as her sleeping eyes

imprisoned in night.
Is the goddess impotent,
can she set these monsters free?

confined in the mind's dungeons,
which one has the key?
So much speech, how much is heard?
Is silence so terrible?

Meagre protection,
nothing but a brittle shell
to shield nakedness.
Why does the predator wait,
what has prompted his delay?

What object is there
to create her fear? Naked,
she seems too helpless
to break free from formless dread,
caged in unowned fantasies.
