What do I want?
What is it I need?
What is this unquenchable thirst?
What is this ravenous hunger?

How do I fill this void?
this gap in my soul, my life?
Is there some magic? a trick?
a remedy for the pain of mind and heart?

I've walked a long, barren road
signs all blank, pointing forward.
Some end without definition,
a place which is nowhere

Onward again on an endless stretch
alone, tired, haggard and cold
such a confused little wretch
searching for a cure to the soul.
